Species of sea turtles to protect

The Sea Turtle Conservation Fund (STCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles.

Since 2011, the STCF has been dedicated to sea turtle conservation through rescue, rehabilitation, nest protection, and environmental education. Funds raised support grants for specialized organizations. Our vision is to broaden fundraising and education efforts to further sea turtle conservation initiatives.

Our mission is to protect the global sea turtle population through fundraising and community education initiatives.

  • Grayson Houston-Henderson founded the Sea Turtle Conservation Fund (STCF) in 2011 with the mission of conserving the world's sea turtle population.

  • The Sea Turtle Conservation Fund (STCF) began it's work when our founder, at just 4 years old, was introduced to the amazing sea turtle nest conservation work done on Topsail Island, NC. This experience ignited a simple yet powerful desire to protect this incredible species. Since then, STCF has funded the conservation of over 4,000,000 sea turtles worldwide. For more details on STCF's beginnings, visit the "Our Founder" page.

  • At STCF, our approach to sea turtle conservation is multifaceted. One one side, we provide grants for initiatives dedicated to global sea turtle protection, supporting projects that might otherwise lack access to necessary funding. Additionally, we work to inspire students to become environmental change-makers through our "STCF Education Program".

Our Programs

One facet of STCF’s sea turtle conservation work is our fundraising and grants program. The funds that we raise, are subsequently channeled into grants for organizations and initiatives dedicated to protecting the global sea turtle population. By providing financial backing, we support sea turtle conservation projects that might otherwise lack access to necessary funding.

Grants

The STCF Education Program offers schools an immersive educational experience centered on sea turtle conservation. Through the captivating story of "Topsy the Sea Turtle," students journey through key stages of Topsy's life, witnessing the impact of human actions on sea turtle habitats. The program concludes with actionable steps for students to help mitigate these impacts.

Goal: Our aim is to instill a profound sense of environmental responsibility in students by immersing them in Topsy's story. Unlike traditional narratives, this program engages students meaningfully in sea turtle conservation.

How It Works: The program is cost-free for schools, providing all necessary materials including worksheets, slide presentations, and teaching guides.
